PE at Holy Rosary is taught by class teachers.
Pupils learn, refine and develop new skills across the main topics of gymnastics, games, dance, athletics, swimming and outdoor & adventurous activities. And these areas are broken down into more detail within the PE long term plan. While in Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils receive a term of swimming tuition each year.
In years 5 and 6 approximately 40 children have been trained as young sports leaders to deliver sports activities at lunchtimes to KS1 and KS2 pupils, led and supervised by Mrs Broderick.
There are three inter-house events held throughout the school year: cross country, multi-skills and athletics. As well as a school sport & health week which takes place in the Summer term. The School Sports Crew also organise a range of competitive events that take place during lunch time break.
As part of the Hathershaw Cluster group children take part in a range of school sport competitions and festivals with local schools. The school sport specialist, and links with Hathershaw School Sports Coordinator are funded by School Sports Premium. We currently employ a school sports coach to prepare the children to take part in the cluster competitions. The PE lead and PLT is Mrs Broderick.
Extra-curricular activities include:
Tennis, Change4Life Club (Active Kids), Football, Multi Skills, and Adventure Club.
