Staff at Holy Rosary work with both preschools and secondary schools to support the transition of children with SEN.
During the last half term of Year 6 vulnerable children are given extra transition sessions.
Staff help children to develop their independence skills. They also help children to take responsibility for their actions.
During review meetings children and parents are encouraged to think about the future and set long term targets along with short term targets. For the final Year 6 review meetings, secondary school teachers are also asked to attend.
Our year 5 and year 6 classes’ work with Mr Edwards each week in their music sessions. Mr Edwards is the music teacher from Newman College.
Each year our year 5 children are invited to attend a morning at Newman College, where the children take part in a number of sessions.
Groups of children regularly attend sporting events at Hathershaw.
