Lancashire Cricket Day

This week, the children in Key Stage 2 were lucky to receive a visit from Lancashire Cricket club. The children started the day with an assembly and then spent time with a cricket coach who spent the day teaching the children how to play cricket - a game some children have never played. A great opportunity.

St Joseph's Penny

During the season of Lent, we always engage in “Almsgiving” and find ways of giving to those less fortunate. St Joesph’s Lent appeal is a perfect way to get involved and this year we have raised money by hosting a spelling challenge using our new outdoor orienteering course. We challenged the children to find as many words as they could from hidden prompts.The children loved it !

World Book Day

What a fantastic World Book Day we have had.  There were 2 competitions running.  1 for a story character potato and 1 for the most unusual place to read a book.  Below are the winning potatoes.  I'm sure you will agree, the standard was very high.  Well done to everyone who took part.

World Book week

Pilgrims of Hope Prayer stations

Prayer Stations are a great way to enagge in prayer in a creative way. This week, our prayer stations fo used on the theme of HOPE as part of our engagement in celebrating the Jubilee year.

The children made doors, blew bubbles, held hands and lid their footprints - all with a focus on Hope.

Jubilee Year of Hope

Continuing on from the introduction to our Year of Hope, in last weeks Newsletter. This week we are happy to share the events during our Launch day. The children started the day by joining together in a reflection and explored the themes related to the Jubilee Year of Hope. The children shared some fantastic ideas and showed really deep thinking around faith. For the rest of the day they were exploring symbols, and thinking about what these represents. They engaged in art activities - visit our class Twitter pages to see more.

Tales of the Toymender

This week our children were extremely fortunate to have a visit from Oldham Theatre workshop who brought six professional actors, technical crew, live music, a touring set, lights and sound equipment. They performed the play “Tales of the Toymender” followed by a theatre workshop which was awarded to Year 5. The children absolutely loved it !

Christmas T-Shirt making

This week we invited parents to come and join us to paint Christmas T-Shirts. The children have loved this and are excited to wear these on Thursday 19th December for the Christmas Celebration day. Thank you to those who joined us.

Advent Prayer stations

Today our children have engaged in our Advent Prayer Statios event.  During the day, the children completed short prayers and reflectipons about the events leading up to Christmas as we prepare fpr the coming of our Lord Jesus. Check year group Twitter pages to see more.

Health Champions

This week, our Health champions attended an event for Oldham primary schools with a focus on Healthy Lifestyles.

Our representatives learnt important messages to share with their peers and families. They are wearing their Health Champions badges with pride.
