Well-being
At Holy Rosary RC Primary, the wellbeing of every child is a top priority. We believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, and supported. That’s why we are deeply committed to nurturing the emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing of our pupils as a core part of school life.
We use a wide range of resources and strategies to promote wellbeing across our school. These include dedicated wellbeing lessons, mindfulness activities, pastoral support, and trusted wellbeing programs tailored to meet the needs of all our children. Our staff are trained to recognise and respond to the needs of pupils, ensuring that every child feels listened to, valued, and cared for.
By working together with families and the wider community, we aim to build a positive and supportive environment where all children can thrive.
Here are some of our supporting resources:

At Holy Rosary RC Primary School, we are proud to use the Hamish & Milo programme as part of our commitment to supporting the emotional wellbeing of our children. Hamish & Milo is a specially designed emotional literacy programme that helps children explore and understand their feelings through engaging stories, discussion, and creative activities. Using two lovable characters—Hamish the dog and Milo the cat—the programme creates a safe and supportive space where children can talk about their emotions, develop resilience, and build positive relationships.

Through themed sessions focusing on topics such as friendship, self-esteem, anxiety, and change, Hamish & Milo gives children the tools they need to recognise and manage their emotions in a healthy way. It forms an important part of our wider wellbeing offer and helps us ensure that every child feels heard, supported, and confident.
We believe in nurturing the whole child, and Hamish & Milo plays a key role in helping our pupils thrive both in and out of the classroom.

At Holy Rosary RC Primary School, we are proud to deliver the myHappymind programme as part of our whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing. myHappymind is a science-backed, NHS-approved curriculum that helps children develop positive mental health habits from an early age. It teaches pupils about how their brains work and gives them practical strategies to build resilience, self-esteem, and emotional awareness.
|
The programme is delivered through weekly lessons and interactive activities, focusing on key areas such as Meet Your Brain, Celebrate, Appreciate, Relate, and Engage. These sessions are fun, engaging, and accessible for all children, empowering them to manage their feelings, build positive relationships, and develop a strong sense of self. By embedding myHappymind into everyday school life, we help create a consistent and supportive environment where mental health is openly talked about and every child is given the tools to thrive both now and in the future.
